Direct Care. Deeper Rapport.

Insurance often has red tape and restrictions, making care inaccessible (if you’re even lucky to be insured). That’s before the dancing to figure out copays, limitations, and deductibles. Weekly individual therapy can often feel financially unattainable to those who need it most. Parents often sacrifice their own mental health needs to make sure their children’s mental health needs are taken care of first. So, I’m proposing a middle ground. A tier-based membership, with supplemental à la carte options, to bridge the gap.

I have struggled working as a therapist and being uninsured as a self-employed individual, which should be supported and lauded instead of punished. That means I was a therapist who could not afford my own therapist.

Insurance companies are taking bigger and bigger cuts while turning away more and more clients. Insurance companies are dictating how often I can provide support to clients; if I’m allowed to text, “Happy Birthday,” or not. If I can respond to, “I’m so nervous before this presentation. I’ve got ten minutes,” or if I have to leave them on read. Insurance companies are not valuing the research behind body doubling, walk-and-talks in nature, and even certain aspects of child-centered play therapy.

I can’t live my life like this anymore. I just want to talk to people. Support them. Teach them. Build rapport and skills that can last a lifetime. I want to laugh and cry with you without worrying my “counselor robot” is slipping. That’s who I am, and I can’t wait to find out who you are.
